What do the musicians bring and what do I need to provide?

The musicians will arrive 15 minutes before your event commences to set up their own music stand, instrument and music.

What you will need to provide is an area of at least 4 square metres for the musicians to perform in. It is also essential they have another safe space close to where they’re performing so they can store their instrument cases and personal belongings.

Each musician on the day needs an armless, flat chair as well as sufficient lighting to read the music.

My event is outdoors?

Our instruments are fragile and sensitive to harsh conditions. It is essential that we play under protection from direct sunlight, rain or wind. If no protection such as a large reinforced umbrella, marquee or a veranda is available for us, it is at the musicians’ discretion on the day whether they continue playing or move to a more appropriate area.

Do the musicians take a break?

We try to keep our song changes to a minimum so the flow of the music isn’t disrupted. However, musicians must take 10 mins every hour of playing. For event bookings of three hours or more, a meal break of 30 minutes is required.

Am I required to provide food for the musicians?

Water is always appreciated and for longer bookings of 3 hours or more, a meal should be provided for each musician.

Is there a travel fee for events outside of Melbourne or Wellington CBD?

Yes, venues at locations outside of either city will incur a travel fee. This is calculated at $60 per hour per musician.

Some examples:

Your wedding ceremony is in Martinborough - return travel time from Wellington CBD is estimated at 3 hours therefore each musician will receive $180 NZD.

Your birthday event is on the Mornington Peninsula - return travel time from Melbourne Central is estimated at 2.5 hours therefore each musician will receive $150 AUD.

Can I book musicians to play in a different region/city?

In New Zealand, we typically service the Greater Wellington Region however we are more than happy to discuss with you alternative locations across New Zealand and can provide you with various options and quotes for your request.

In Australia, we typcially service Melbourne and venues within Greater Melbourne, however we are more than happy to discuss options to travel across Victoria for your event and can discuss a suitable quote for you.

What happens if my event runs overtime?

This will be at the ensembles’ discretion. If it is decided that they continue, an overtime fee in 15 minute increments at $30 per player will be invoiced to you after the event. This invoice will need to be paid within 7 days as per our T&Cs.

What do the musicians wear?

Typically our musicians wear formal, elegant/cocktail or 'glam' black clothing depending on the nature of the function.

If you have requests or preferences for the attire of your event entertainment, such as colours for a summer garden party, please let us know and we will do our very best to accommodate!

Can I request specific songs or pieces?

Yes, of course! If your special song or piece isn’t in our repertoire list, we are more than happy to arrange it for you. A nominal fee will be discussed for this and we will require at least 21 days notice before the event.
